Lindsay Nicole Ferrara

Lindsay Nicole Ferrara is a Professor in the Department of Language and Literature at NTNU. Her research focuses on sign language linguistics, particularly Norwegian Sign Language (NTS), and explores areas such as corpus linguistics, multimodal communication, and the interactional functions of gesture and gaze. She leads the Norwegian Sign Language Corpus project, aiming to document and analyze NTS in diverse ecological contexts.

Key research interests include spatial cognition, depiction, and the semiotic diversity of signed language interactions. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics with applied research, emphasizing inclusivity and community-driven scholarship. Ferrara collaborates internationally and has contributed to advancing understanding of reference mechanisms, question-asking strategies, and the role of eye gaze in conversation.
