Benjamin Anible is an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) within the Institute for Languages and Literature, specializing in linguistics education for interpreting students. He holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of New Mexico (2016), MA from the University of Rochester (2010), and BS in ASL-English Interpretation from NTID/RIT (2008).
His research focuses on signed language acquisition in adults, psycholinguistic factors in multilingual signed language processing, and corpus development of Norwegian Sign Language. Recent projects include DEPICT (Research Council of Norway-funded), investigating depiction in Norwegian Sign Language for inclusion and translation. His work spans areas like iconicity, bilingualism, and reference systems across signed languages.
Teaching responsibilities include courses like TEGN1102 (Multimodal Communication) and TEGN2012 (Signed Language Linguistics). Professional activities include peer review in reference, gesture, and bimodal language acquisition, alongside outreach lectures on sign language documentation and corpus linguistics.
