Dr. Lindsay Boring is an Associate Professor and Director of the Joseph E. Jones Ecological Research Center at Ichauway, where she leads conservation, research, and educational programs. Her work focuses on ecosystem ecology, forest management, and fire ecology. She holds a PhD in Botany from the University of Georgia (1982) and has extensive experience in long-term ecological research, including the Coweeta LTER project until 1991. Currently, she chairs the UGA Graduate Education Advancement Board and serves on the graduate faculties of the University of Georgia, University of Alabama, and University of Florida.
Her research spans ecosystem dynamics, soil nitrogen and carbon flux, and the impacts of fire on forest ecosystems. The Jones Center oversees the 30,000-acre Ichauway site, graduate student co-sponsorships, and outreach to policymakers and landowners. Her publications explore climate change, forest succession, and nutrient dynamics in fire-maintained systems.
Dr. Boring has advised numerous graduate students and contributed to interdisciplinary efforts in environmental stewardship. She actively participates in conservation advisory boards and emphasizes the integration of applied research with ecological management practices.
