Lindsay Anderson is a Professor and Department Chair of Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University, part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She also serves as the House Professor Dean of William Keeton House. Her research focuses on energy system decarbonization, integrating systems engineering, electric power systems, and applied optimization to address environmental challenges. Dr. Anderson holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Western Ontario.
Her academic awards include the 2021 ESIG Award for Energy Systems Optimization, IEEE Senior Membership, and the 2015 NSF CAREER Award. She teaches courses such as Energy Seminars I and II, and Applied Modeling for Renewable Energy Systems.
Anderson’s lab investigates renewable energy integration, energy-food-water systems, and policy implications of decarbonization. Recent research includes optimizing microgrids and analyzing climate impacts on energy systems. She has advised numerous graduate students, including Alonso Alegre-Bravo and Tayler Fernandes Nunez, contributing to interdisciplinary sustainability projects funded by Cornell Atkinson and others.
