Linda Tashbook is an Adjunct Professor of Law and Foreign, International, and Comparative Law Librarian at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She manages the library’s Research Fellows program and participates in numerous committees, including the University Senate’s Benefits and Welfare Committee and the Mental Wellness Task Force. Her pro bono work focuses on poverty law, mental health law, and non-profit law. She founded and maintains The Homeless Law Blog.
Education: JD from University of Pittsburgh School of Law, MLS from University of Pittsburgh, BS from Texas Woman’s University.
Research interests include legal research methodologies, international legal frameworks, mental health law advocacy, and homelessness policy. She teaches upper-level legal research courses, such as Foundations of Legal Research and International and Foreign Legal Research.
Publications explore topics like legal protections for homeless individuals, mental health law resources for clinicians, and historical analyses of education systems. Awards include the 2018 Rubash Lectureship and the 2010 FCIL Spirit Award.
Advising and grants: Oversees the Research Fellows program, fostering collaborative legal research. Active in University Senate committees addressing mental health and benefits policies. Volunteer work includes leadership roles with NAMI FAMILIAS, Project HELP, and SOS Emergency Grants Committee.
Labs/Teams: Core member of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law library team, contributing to reference services, research initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
