معرفی
Dr Linda Stewart is a researcher at the School of Biological Sciences, Queen's University Belfast, specializing in the development of rapid diagnostic tools for bacterial pathogens, microbiome research focusing on Bacteroides fragilis, and exploration of antimicrobial resistance. She is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences.
- Developed novel lateral flow assays and biosensor platforms for Mycobacterium species differentiation
- Investigated molecular mimicry by gut microbiota as a potential trigger for autoimmune diseases
- Current research includes optimizing microbial detection methods via microfluidics, Raman spectroscopy, and phage-derived peptide binders
Scientific Contributions: Her work spans antimicrobial resistance, microbiome studies, and innovative diagnostic technologies. Articles reflect trends in biosensor development, MAP isolation techniques, and nanotechnology applications for pathogen detection.
Advisees: Supervised PhD students including Brendan Gilbride (paper-based microfluidics), Quan Wang (natural product antimicrobials), Matthew Ellis (peptide binders for TB), and alumni Lorna O'Brien (MAP detection) and Jessica Fletcher (M. bovis immunology).
