Linda Schott is an Associate Professor & Extension Specialist in the University of Idaho's Department of Soil and Water Systems, College of Agricultural & Life Sciences. She focuses on nutrient and livestock waste management impacts on soil health and water quality in southern Idaho. Her work bridges agricultural practices and environmental sustainability, addressing regional challenges in nutrient balances and manure utilization.
Dr. Schott holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2018), an M.S. and B.S. from Iowa State University (2015, 2013). Her research explores conservation practices, soil health assessment, and precision agriculture technologies. She actively engages stakeholders through extension programs like the Magic Valley Soil Health Forum and has authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles.
Her honors include the University of Nebraska's Outstanding Doctoral Student (2018) and ASABE's Pharos of Alexandria Award (2014). She advises graduate students and collaborates with regional producers on projects such as cover crop systems and wireless soil monitoring.
Linda leads initiatives at the Twin Falls Research and Extension Center, integrating lab-based soil analysis (e.g., aggregate stability assessments) with field-scale experiments. Her work emphasizes practical solutions for semi-arid farming, including regenerative practices and site-specific nutrient management.
