Linda Rose

Linda Rose is an Associate Professor in the Division of Ergonomics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Her work focuses on developing tools, methods, and systems to minimize injury risks at work through participatory approaches with users and companies. She has been active in ergonomics research since the late 1980s, working from both individual perspectives (safety, health, usability) and systems perspectives (productivity, quality, economy).

Her research interests center on developing models and methods for ergonomic improvements. This includes modeling physical reactions to understand correlations between physical load, recovery needs, injury risks, and productivity; risk evaluation and management methods for identifying and assessing injury risks; and work environment economics models that consider economic consequences of work environments. She has a strong interest in product development with ergonomic focus and in education and pedagogy.

Professor Rose's recent publications show a clear trend toward developing and validating the RAMP (Risk Assessment and Management tool for Manual handling Proactively) system, which has become a central focus of her work. Her research spans multiple industries including construction, maritime, manufacturing, and home environments, with particular emphasis on musculoskeletal disorder prevention, risk management methodologies, and demonstrating the economic value of good ergonomics.

As an educator, she teaches and is course responsible for multiple courses including Ergonomics in Product Development, Planning and Design of Physical Work Environments, and the RAMP series of courses focused on risk assessment and management of work-related injuries. She serves as examiner for degree projects in Technology, Work and Health.
