Linda Reed is an Associate Professor of African American History in the Department of History at the University of Houston. She previously directed the university's African American Studies Program and served as National Director of the Association of Black Women Historians. Her research examines African American history with focus on women, the South, and the Civil Rights Movement.
Education includes a Ph.D. from Indiana University Bloomington.
Her extensive scholarship covers the Southern Conference Movement, Fannie Lou Hamer's activism, and African American women's history. Recent work includes biographical analysis of religious figure George Liele and examinations of school desegregation impacts.
