Linda Lehmanski

Linda Lehmanski is a Doctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry (MPI-BGC) and a PhD student affiliated with Friedrich Schiller University (FSU) in Jena, Germany. She is a member of the Plant Allocation research group led by Henrik Hartmann, focusing on biogeochemical processes and ecological interactions. Her research investigates how environmental factors like windthrow and drought influence volatile emissions in Norway spruce and their role in host selection by the European spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus).

Education:

Research Interests: Ips typographus host selection mechanisms, plant volatile emissions, climate-induced stress on forest ecosystems, and chemical ecology. Her work bridges biogeochemistry, entomology, and forestry to understand beetle-tree interactions under changing environmental conditions.

Publications: Over 10 peer-reviewed articles, including high-impact studies in PLoS ONE and New Phytologist, focusing on climate-driven changes in tree defenses and pest behavior.

Advising & Collaboration: Supervised by Henrik Hartmann (MPI-BGC), Nicole van Dam (FSU), and Jonathan Gershenzon (MPI CE). Collaborations include research stays at the University of Alberta (2023) and interdisciplinary projects with Senckenberg Institute and University of Sheffield.
