معرفی
Linda Fox-Rogers is Assistant Professor (Lecturer/Ad Astra Fellow) in Regional & Urban Planning at University College Dublin’s School of Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy, where she directs the MSc in Regional & Urban Planning. A fully qualified planner, she integrates critical political-economy perspectives with applied environmental governance research.
Education:
- BA (Mod) Geography & Sociology, Trinity College Dublin 2007
- Masters in Regional & Urban Planning, UCD 2009
- PhD Geography, Planning & Environmental Policy, UCD 2014
- Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Teaching, Queen’s University Belfast 2018
Research interests: Her work interrogates how power asymmetries within advanced capitalist societies shape spatial planning outcomes. Three inter-locking strands dominate: (1) power & politics inside planning systems; (2) neoliberalisation of planning legislation and state institutions; and (3) stakeholder perceptions of planning legitimacy. Current EPA-funded project REM2ARC investigates behavioural barriers to septic-tank remediation across rural Ireland.
Publications trajectory: Across 2024-25 she has led papers on pandemic rural mobilities, financialisation of planning law, and household behaviour regarding on-site wastewater systems, signalling a shift toward environmental risk governance while retaining her core critical-planning lens.
Awards & recognition:
- Early Career Researcher Award (Commended), RTPI Research Excellence Awards 2016
- UCD Teaching & Learning Award nominee 2024
- IRC Postgraduate & Postdoctoral Fellowships totalling €107k
Teaching & professional service: Module co-ordinator for Planning Law, Planning Society & Diversity, and the Planning Practice Internship; peer reviewer for Planning Theory, Cities, JPL, Land Use Policy; co-chair AESOP Excellence in Teaching Award committee; member UCD Earth Institute and Centre for Irish Towns.
