Lina Sela is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, holding the Carrol Allen Teaching Fellowship in Civil Engineering. Her work focuses on resilient urban infrastructure, cyber-physical systems, and water resource management. She holds a Ph.D. (2011), M.Sc. (2005), and B.Sc. (2003) from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Her research interests include modeling water distribution networks, fault diagnosis, and integrating AI for infrastructure resilience. She develops tools like VisWaterNet and TSNet for network visualization and transient simulation, emphasizing cybersecurity and equity in water systems. Recent work addresses post-disaster recovery, generative AI applications, and the water-energy nexus.
Publications highlight advancements in sensor placement, Kalman filtering for fault detection, and optimizing equity in water supply. She contributes to both technical innovations (e.g., hybrid chemical models) and policy-relevant studies on infrastructure resilience against extreme events.
