Lily Hope Chumley is an Associate Professor of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Her work focuses on cultural anthropology, media studies, and contemporary Chinese cultural practices. She teaches courses on communication, gender, and identity, including MCC-UE 1700: Communication Gender & Identity.
Her research explores topics such as postsocialist China's art education systems, global aesthetics, financial cultural practices, and qualitative research methodologies. Notable publications include Creativity Class: Art School and Culture Work in Postsocialist China (2016) and articles in Anthropological Quarterly and the China Journal.
