Dr. Lillian B. Cohn serves as Assistant Professor in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and is a Member of the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center (IIRC). Her research focuses on elucidating the biology of latent HIV reservoirs in CD4+ T cells that persist despite antiretroviral therapy, aiming to develop curative strategies for HIV.
Education:
- Ph.D., Rockefeller University, New York, NY (2018)
- B.A., Brown University, Providence, RI (2009)
Dr. Cohn's work centers on HIV persistence mechanisms, particularly how latently infected CD4+ T cell clones expand and reactivate. She employs advanced genomic and cellular techniques to map reservoir dynamics, integration landscapes, and clonal expansion patterns. Her research bridges virology, immunology, and genomics to identify vulnerabilities in the HIV reservoir that could enable eradication.
She leads the Cohn Lab, which actively recruits researchers as evidenced by open recruitment statements. In 2023, her work was recognized through competitive grant awards highlighted in Fred Hutch news releases. Dr. Cohn maintains an active publication record in high-impact journals including Cell, Nature Medicine, and Journal of Experimental Medicine, with recent studies revealing critical insights into reservoir formation and reactivation mechanisms.
