Lilian Grootswagers-Theuns is the owner of Erfgoed.nu, a consultant for governmental institutions, corporations, and private owners on heritage-related issues, and a guest lecturer at HAN University of Applied Sciences (2011) for the 'Repurpose and Monuments Module Cooperation'. She specializes in monument legislation, grants, research, religious heritage, conversion, spatial planning, and heritage reuse/redesign.

- Vice-chair of Task Force Toekomst Kerkgebouwen (a Dutch citizen's movement for revitalizing religious buildings)

Her research focuses on integrating heritage buildings into modern society through adaptive reuse, policy guidelines, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She emphasizes an integrated approach to heritage conservation.
She authored three key publications: Guidelines for Religious Heritage Gelderland (2009), Oren van Steen (2011), and Future of our built history, guideline for re use (2014). These works address religious heritage preservation, monument conversion, and sustainable spatial planning.
Her roles span consulting, education, and advocacy across European and Dutch heritage frameworks.
