Liis Preem is a part-time lecturer in pharmaceutical analysis at the University of Tartu, Institute of Pharmacy. She obtained her MSc in 2014 and PhD in 2022, focusing on electrospun drug delivery systems for wound infections. Her research is conducted under the supervision of Associate Professor Karin Kogermann.
- PhD in Pharmacy (2022), University of Tartu
- MSc in Pharmacy (cum laude, 2014), University of Tartu
- Secondary education (gold medal, 2009), Nõo Reaalgümnaasium
Her research interests center on electrospun wound dressings, biorelevant analysis methods, and antimicrobial strategies for biofilm prevention. She has developed in vitro/ex vivo biofilm models to evaluate electrospun systems and investigates sterilization impacts on drug-polymer interactions.
Her recent publications focus on antibacterial electrospun fibers, drug release kinetics, and biofilm model development. She has contributed to 15+ peer-reviewed articles and conference papers since 2017.
- 2022: 1st prize for doctoral research in medical sciences
Active in projects like Biorelevant assays for antimicrobial wound dressings (€760,450, 2022–2026) and Antimicrobial wound dressings (€37,000, 2023–2024), she collaborates with European networks and Estonian institutions.
