Lihui Wang

Lihui Wang is a Professor and Chair of Sustainable Manufacturing at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. He also serves as the Director of Centre of Excellence in Production Research (XPRES), one of the five national strategic research centres at KTH. His leadership extends to professional organizations, having served as President of North American Manufacturing Research Institution (NAMRI) of Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) from 2020-2021, and Chairman of Swedish Production Academy from 2018-2020.

Professor Wang earned his BSc in China in 1982, followed by an MSc in 1990 and PhD in 1993 from Kobe University in Japan. His academic journey included positions as Assistant Professor at Kobe University and Toyohashi University of Technology in Japan before joining the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in 1998 as a Senior Research Scientist. He moved to Sweden in 2008 to join KTH.

His research focuses on cutting-edge areas in manufacturing and robotics, including real-time monitoring and control systems, human-robot collaboration, brain robotics, digital twin technology, and sustainable production systems. Professor Wang's work bridges the gap between theoretical advancements and practical industrial applications, with emphasis on creating more efficient, intelligent, and environmentally sustainable manufacturing processes.

Professor Wang has made significant contributions to academic publishing, serving as Editor-in-Chief for three major journals: International Journal of Manufacturing Research, Journal of Manufacturing Systems, and Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing. He previously served as Editor of Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing (2007-2019) and Associate Editor of International Journal of Production Research, while also contributing to the editorial boards of 17 other international journals. His scholarly output includes 10 books, 15 conference proceedings, 32 journal special issues, and over 600 scientific articles.

He leads the Centre of Excellence in Production Research (XPRES) at KTH, one of Sweden's five national strategic research centers focused on production research. His leadership in this center drives innovation in sustainable manufacturing and production systems across Sweden's industrial sector.
