Dr. Liesbeth Schoonheim is a Postdoctoral researcher at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin's Political Theory Research and Teaching Area. Previously, she held a FWO-funded junior postdoctoral fellowship at KU Leuven and lectured at the University of Amsterdam in political/social philosophy and ethics. Her PhD from KU Leuven explored Hannah Arendt's philosophy of remembrance, earning her magna cum laude. She has been a visiting researcher at institutions including Oxford and DePaul University.
Her research focuses on intersections of political theory, social theory, and feminism, with emphasis on resistance, political violence, historiography, and corporeality. Key publications include works in Foucault Studies, History of European Ideas, and Philosophy Today. She co-edited Beauvoir and Politics: A Toolkit (2023) and serves on Krisis' editorial board.
Teaching includes courses on radical democracy, existentialism, and feminist approaches to care. Her work bridges philosophical traditions with contemporary issues like climate justice and gender activism.
