Licínio C. Lima

Licínio C. Lima (b. 1957, Porto, Portugal) is a Full Professor of Sociology of Education and Educational Administration at the Department of Social Sciences of Education, Institute of Education, University of Minho, where he has served since 1998. He holds a PhD in Educational Administration.

His research centers on the sociology of organizations, with specialized focus on educational institutions and knowledge-based organizational structures. This interdisciplinary work bridges social sciences, institutional governance, and pedagogical systems.

Administrative leadership roles at University of Minho include:

• Head of the Unit for Adult Education (1984–2004)
• Director of the Research Centre for Education and Psychology (1994–1997)
• Head of Department (1998–2004)
• Director of the PhD in Education program (2011–2013)

He has led multiple international research projects and authored over thirty academic books published in sixteen countries across six languages. He is a guest professor at universities throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
