Garcia Zarranz works at the intersection of contemporary literary studies in Canada, visual cultures, and affect theory, with a focus on feminist, queer, crip, and trans approaches. Her research explores how affective experiences shape cultural production and pedagogical practices, particularly through marginalized perspectives. She examines how literature and visual culture can generate sustainable ethical frameworks that challenge normative structures of power and representation. Her work consistently engages with questions of relationality, embodiment, and resistance across diverse cultural contexts.
Her publication record demonstrates a sustained focus on Canadian literature, trans studies, affect theory, and feminist approaches to cultural production. The most recent works show increasing engagement with visual culture, animation studies, and pedagogical applications of theoretical frameworks. Her scholarship reveals consistent thematic concerns with paradox, exposure, and willfulness as methodological approaches to understanding marginalized experiences.
