معرفی
Libby Megna is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, and a PhD graduate from the University of Wyoming. Her research focuses on speciation mechanisms in birds, particularly hybridizing species, combining fieldwork with statistical analysis. She teaches courses in ecology, evolution, and organismal biology.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Ecology, University of Wyoming (2023)
- M.S. Biology, Andrews University (2012)
- B.S. Biology, Andrews University (2010)
Research Interests: Dr. Megna investigates reproductive isolation in passerine birds and hybridization dynamics, aiming to understand evolutionary processes. Her work spans behavioral ecology, population genetics, and conservation.
Recent Articles: Her publications explore genomic analyses of bird diversity, avian reproductive behavior, and hybridization in species like gulls and cormorants. These studies highlight the interplay between genetics, environment, and evolutionary outcomes.
Awards:
- Cooper Ornithological Society Student Presentation Award (2014)
- Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship (2009)
- Menkens Award (2017)
Teaching & Outreach: She has mentored numerous undergraduates and led field courses in Ecuador. Her community efforts include bird banding and educational programs with Audubon Society and Girl Scouts.
