Liat Margolis is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto's John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design. She serves as Director of the Master of Landscape Architecture Program and leads the GRIT Lab / Green Roof Innovation Testing Laboratory. Her work bridges landscape architecture, green infrastructure, and Indigenous studies, with a focus on sustainability and climate change policy solutions.
- Education: Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design (Rhode Island School of Design), Master of Landscape Architecture (Harvard Graduate School of Design)
Her research emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, real-time environmental data collection via experimental green roofs, and integrating Indigenous knowledge systems with ecological design. She has contributed to federal climate policy through Sustainable Canada Dialogues and advocates for marginalized groups in postsecondary education.

Liat Margolis co-authored two books: Living Systems: Innovative Materials and Technologies for Landscape Architecture (2007) and Out of Water: Design Solutions for Arid Regions (2014). She co-founded the Nikibii Dawadinna Giigwag Indigenous youth access program and serves on the University of Toronto Presidential Committee on Environment, Climate Change, and Sustainability.
