University of North Carolina at Chapel Hillمعرفی
Liara Gonzalez, DVM, PhD, serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, where she directs translational research using porcine models to investigate intestinal stem cell dynamics during gastrointestinal injury and recovery phases.
Her primary research domains encompass Intestinal Stem Cell Biology, Translational Medicine, and Large Animal Models, with specialized focus on Intestinal Transplantation mechanisms and Epithelial Injury and Repair processes. Dr. Gonzalez has pioneered porcine models for intestinal stem cell research and developed advanced 3D stem cell culture techniques to evaluate epithelial regeneration in both in vivo and in vitro environments, contributing significantly to the field of Regeneration and Repair.
Scientific Awards:
- Pilot and Feasibility Award 2014 from the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease (CGIBD)
Dr. Gonzalez maintains active research collaborations with Blikslager, Garman, Magness, Roper, van Landeghem, and Zeigler, with ongoing investigations into injury-resistant intestinal stem cell populations and their role in enhancing intestinal allograft viability following severe ischemic injury. Her laboratory operations continue to advance porcine transplantation models while exploring novel therapeutic approaches for gastrointestinal pathologies.
