Anthony Blikslager

Anthony Blikslager, DVM, PhD, DACVS, is an Associate Dean and Director of Veterinary Medical Services at North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. He leads the Large Animal Models Core for the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease (CGIBD), focusing on translational research in gastrointestinal conditions.

Research Interests center on intestinal mucosal repair mechanisms, including:

• Ischemia/reperfusion injury in porcine models
• Epithelial restitution and tight junction reassembly
• Ion transporter dynamics in mucosal integrity
• Enteric nervous system interactions
• Inflammatory cell contributions to intestinal healing
• Glial cell-epithelial signaling in stress-induced gut dysfunction
