Liang Liang is Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Kentucky. His research integrates bioclimatology and remote sensing to study plant phenology patterns across spatial and temporal scales.
Research Focus: Investigates geographic variation in seasonal biological events like spring leaf emergence, developing spatially explicit models that account for climatic adaptation and genotypic differences. Utilizes satellite remote sensing (MODIS, VENuS) and drone-based observations to track vegetation phenology across ecosystems.
Teaching: Instructs courses in Physical Geography, Climatology, GIS, and Remote Sensing. Guides graduate research on phenological responses to climate change using field observations and modeling approaches.
Methodologies: Advances techniques for cross-comparing satellite-derived phenology metrics with ground observations, improving continental-scale prediction models of vegetation responses to climate variability.
