Liam Maher Moore (he/him) serves as an Adjunct Professor at Moore College of Art & Design while completing his PhD in art history at Temple University's Tyler School of Art & Architecture. He maintains teaching positions at both Moore College of Art & Design and Temple University, with additional appointments at the University of the Arts.
His research centers on the intersection of queerness, Catholicism, and anti/colonialism in 20th and 21st-century Latin American and Latinx art. His dissertation specifically examines contemporary queer artists from Latin America and their innovative use of textiles to explore complex relationships with Catholic traditions and iconography.
Moore's scholarly work reveals patterns connecting textile art practices with identity formation, religious negotiation, and postcolonial resistance. His publications in Accomplice, Art & About PDX, and the National Catholic Reporter demonstrate consistent engagement with how marginalized communities reclaim and reinterpret religious visual culture through material practices.
As a Temple University Fellow, Moore bridges academic research with practical teaching across multiple Philadelphia institutions, contributing to the vibrant art education landscape in the region while advancing scholarship on Latin American queer artistic practices.
