Liam Harte is Professor of Irish Literature at the University of Manchester, specializing in modern Irish literature and diaspora studies. He holds editorial positions at the Irish University Review and New Hibernia Review, and served as the 2008 Armstrong Visiting Professor of Irish Studies at the University of Toronto.
He earned degrees in English and History from the University of Galway and a DPhil in English Literature from Trinity College Dublin. His career includes positions at St Mary's University London, University of Ulster, and University of Manchester.
His research explores Irish autobiographical traditions, migrant narratives, and cultural memory, with notable projects including 'Conflict, Memory and Migration: Northern Ireland Migrants and the Troubles in Great Britain' funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. His work has been adapted into the stage play My English Tongue, My Irish Heart.
Recent publications focus on oral histories of Northern Irish migrants, examining themes of identity, memory transmission, and intergenerational trauma. His articles demonstrate consistent engagement with diaspora experiences and post-conflict narratives.
