Liam Connor is a Canadian astrophysicist and Tolman Postdoctoral Fellow at Caltech, where he has been since 2020. Previously, he worked at the University of Amsterdam. He earned his PhD in 2016 from the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Toronto, specializing in cosmology before transitioning to Fast Radio Burst (FRB) research. His work integrates artificial intelligence with astronomy to advance understanding of the universe. Connor's research interests include FRBs, astrophysical phenomena, and machine learning applications in observational astronomy.
His academic journey includes a notable shift from cosmology to FRBs mid-doctorate, reflecting his focus on transient astrophysical events. He also contributes to public outreach through events like the Caltech Astro seminar on FRBs (December 2021), where he discussed FRB origins, magnetars, and the role of the James Webb Space Telescope. Beyond academia, Connor enjoys back-country skiing, puppet stop-motion animation, and keeping silkie chickens.
