Dr. Lin's research program centers on leveraging large healthcare datasets to identify actionable disparities in substance use disorder treatment access and quality, with emphasis on developing telehealth-delivered interventions for real-world implementation. Her work prioritizes overdose risk mitigation, care improvement for patients with comorbid mental health/chronic pain conditions, and equitable access to evidence-based addiction treatments across diverse populations. She employs mixed-methods approaches to bridge implementation science with clinical practice.
Analysis of Dr. Lin's publication record reveals consistent focus on telehealth scalability in addiction care, health equity metrics, and integrated treatment models for polysubstance use disorders. Her recent work increasingly addresses the evolving overdose crisis through structural interventions targeting social determinants of health, with strong emphasis on veteran populations and underserved communities. Methodologically, her studies combine epidemiological analysis with pragmatic clinical trial designs.
Scientific Awards:
- Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE)
As Director of the U-M Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship Program, Dr. Lin mentors fellows in clinical addiction psychiatry and research methodology. She has held significant leadership roles including Immediate Past President of the Michigan Society of Addiction Medicine and Chair of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry Research Committee. Her research is supported by Department of Veterans Affairs and National Institutes of Health grants focused on implementation science and health services research in addiction treatment.
Dr. Lin co-directs MI-ACRE, a multidisciplinary research center addressing systemic barriers in addiction care through community-engaged partnerships.
