Pietrzyk's research interests focus on creative writing craft, particularly short story structure, political fiction, and the exploration of power dynamics in everyday life. Her work often examines Washington, DC's political landscape through intimate character studies, drawing on her twenty-five years of residence in the capital. From her prize-winning 'This Angel on My Chest' to the politically charged 'Admit This To No One,' her work demonstrates both technical mastery and emotional depth. Her stories frequently appear in top literary journals including Southern Review, Ploughshares, and The Sun.
