Leslie Jean Reagan

Leslie Jean Reagan is a Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, holding appointments in the Department of History, Gender and Women's Studies, the Unit for Criticism and Interpretive Theory, and the College of Law. Her research spans interdisciplinary intersections of history, law, medicine, and gender studies.

Education:

Research Interests focus on 20th-century U.S. history, disability, abortion, and public health, with current projects examining Agent Orange, Thalidomide, and medical-legal body studies. Her work bridges social and legal history, gender, and visual culture.

Scientific Awards include the William H. Welch Medal (2015), Joan Kelly Memorial Award (2011), and James Willard Hurst Book Award (1998). She was named University Scholar (2012-2015) and received multiple fellowships.

Grants from NEH, NIH, and the American Bar Foundation have supported her work. She teaches courses on U.S. history, gender, medicine, and disability, including HIST 172 and HIST 498.
