Leslie Day, PhD, CSCS is the Assistant Dean of Pre-Clerkship Education at Texas A&M University’s School of Engineering Medicine. With over 20 years of academic experience, she specializes in medical and anatomical sciences education, curriculum innovation, and leadership. Her roles include Director of Education and Instructional Innovation at Texas A&M, and former Associate Clinical Professor/Acting Chair at Northeastern University. She is a pioneer in flipped classroom pedagogy, team-based learning, and technology integration in anatomy education. Dr. Day holds a PhD in Biology (Northeastern University, 2009), MS in Applied Anatomy & Physiology (Boston University, 1999), and BS in Exercise Physiology (University of Massachusetts Lowell, 1997).
Her research focuses on medical education technology, curriculum design, and assessment strategies. Notable contributions include developing the MedullaMentor interactive brainstem atlas and pioneering pandemic-era hybrid learning models. Her work bridges engineering and medical education through transdisciplinary programs. Over 15 peer-reviewed articles and textbooks reflect her prolific output in educational innovation.
Dr. Day has received multiple teaching awards including the 2023 Outstanding Pre-Clerkship Teaching Award, R. Kelly Hester Distinguished Teaching Award (2022), and Sam Drogo Technology in Classroom Award (2017). Her leadership shaped innovative curricula at Texas A&M and Northeastern, emphasizing student-centered learning and technology integration. She mentors future healthcare educators and continues advancing medical education through research and service.
