Leslie A. Pal is the Founding Dean of the College of Public Policy at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Doha, Qatar. He holds a BA in Political Science and Sociology from Mount Allison University, and MA/PhD in Political Science from Queen’s University, Canada. His research bridges public administration theory and practice, focusing on global policy networks and their impact on governance.
Research Focus: Pal examines how policy advisory systems operate through international organizations, NGOs, think tanks, and governments. Current projects include:
- Global policy advisory systems and governance networks
- SDG education and global citizenship (Qatar National Research Fund project)
- Policy transfer mechanisms across jurisdictions
- G20's role in global policy coordination post-2008 financial crisis
Publication Trends: His recent works explore transnational policy dynamics, with emphasis on countering extremism through education, policy analysis in crises, Muslim organizations in global governance, and public management reform through international bodies like the OECD. Geographic focus includes Qatar and Gulf States.
