Lesley Shawler

Lesley Shawler is an Assistant Professor in the Behavior Analysis and Therapy program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a Ph.D. from the Institute of Applied Behavior Studies at Endicott College (2019), advised by Dr. Caio Miguel. Dr. Shawler completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Neurobehavioral Unit and Clinical Outcomes department.

Dr. Shawler specializes in the assessment and treatment of challenging behavior in individuals with Autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. Her research focuses on functional analysis of behavior, treatment generalization, and caregiver adherence to behavioral interventions. She also explores conceptual questions in experimental and applied behavior analysis, verbal behavior, and single-case research methodology.

Dr. Shawler has published in journals including the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, and The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. She regularly presents at local, national, and international conferences and has served as a guest reviewer and Associate Editor for peer-reviewed journals.
