Joyce Nolan Harrison

Dr. Joyce Nolan Harrison serves as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the Center for Developmental Behavioral Health, Kennedy Krieger Institute. She directs the Kennedy Krieger Institutes Network for Early Childhood Tele-education (KKI-NECT), providing tele-consultation for pediatric primary care providers in rural and underserved areas.

Her educational background includes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Harvard University
• Medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School (now Geisel School of Medicine)
• Pediatrics internship at Floating Hospital, New England Medical Center, Boston
• Adult psychiatry residency at University of Maryland
• Child Psychiatry training at Johns Hopkins University (chief resident)

Dr. Harrison's research focuses on infant and preschool mental health training, school and community-based services, and behavioral health integration into primary care. She pioneers tele-education models like KKI-NECT to extend psychiatric expertise to underserved regions, emphasizing early intervention through community partnerships and primary care collaboration.

She previously held leadership roles as Director of Clinical Preschool Programs at Johns Hopkins Hospital Bayview and Medical Director of Child Community Psychiatry Programs at Johns Hopkins Hospital East Baltimore. Before joining Johns Hopkins in 2002, she served on faculty at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. following National Health Services payback in Southern Maryland.

Her clinical leadership centers on the Center for Developmental Behavioral Health at Kennedy Krieger Institute, where she develops innovative service delivery models bridging specialty psychiatry with community-based care systems.
