Lesley McLean

Lesley McLean is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Business School of Edinburgh Napier University. She leads the CIPD-accredited MSc Human Resource Management program and serves as Deputy Director of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program. With over 19 years at the university, Lesley teaches and supervises students at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. She holds roles on the Business School’s Learning and Teaching Committee and Research Degrees Committee, and chairs the CIPD Scottish Centres Steering Group. Prior to academia, she worked as an Area Operations Manager at Harrods Department Store in London.

Lesley’s research focuses on Human Resource Management, Pedagogy, and Ethics/Sustainability. She has contributed to professional accreditation frameworks for HR programs and explored innovative assessment methods for postgraduate education. Her work emphasizes culturally inclusive practices, student-led learning communities, and the role of communication and empathy in leadership development.

Her recent engagements include presenting at the Employability Symposium 2025, SEDA Spring Conference 2023, and the UKCGE Conference 2023. She has also participated in CIPD Scotland exhibitions and conferences to promote HR education and professional development.
