معرفی
Lesley Lancaster is a Professor (Personal Chair) at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Aberdeen. She has held this position since 2013 and is actively supervising PhD students in Biological and Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on evolutionary processes under climate change, geographic range limits, and biogeography.
- Education:
- PhD in Biology, University of California Santa Cruz (2008), Dissertation: Maternal Effects as Adaptations for Organizing Alternative Social and Antipredator Strategies
- Postdoctoral Experience:
- National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS), 2009–2012
- Lund University, 2012–2013
Research Interests: Dr. Lancaster investigates how social/behavioral traits interact with climate change to influence evolutionary dynamics. Key areas include:
- Biogeography and niche evolution
- Population/community responses to climate shifts
- Experimental evolution in species like damselflies (Ischnura elegans) and seed beetles (Callosobruchus maculatus)
- Global-scale biodiversity patterns and invasions.
Affiliations:
- Ecology Research Cluster Lead, SBS Executive Committee (University of Aberdeen)
- Senior Editor, Journal of Animal Ecology
- Member, British Ecological Society & European Society for Evolutionary Biology
Advising & Grants: Accepting PhD students in Biological/Environmental Sciences. Current projects emphasize climate-driven evolutionary adaptations and habitat shifts.
