Lesley Haig is the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Health Sciences University, leading strategic development alongside the Board of Governors. As a Professor of Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation, her career spans over 20 years in musculoskeletal and sports medicine, elite athlete care, and academic leadership. She holds a PhD in Physiotherapy, MSc in Physiotherapy, and a Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy, along with prestigious memberships including Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Her research focuses on person-centred practice, persistent low back pain management, and psychologically-informed care. Key publications explore musculoskeletal rehabilitation techniques, infection control in clinical settings, and healthcare workforce analysis. She has pioneered academic programs like the UK’s first MSc in Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation and fosters global partnerships in Asia, the US, Middle East, and Europe.
Awards include Honorary Life Membership from the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers, and Professoriate Membership in the Council for Allied Health Professions Research Network. Her leadership extends to curriculum development and professional education standards in sport rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
