Dr. Frank's work examines food insecurity across diverse populations, including students, families, and infants in high-income countries. She investigates structural determinants of poverty, policy responses, and social exclusion mechanisms, particularly in rural and postpartum contexts.
Her recent publications (2020-2024) analyze infant food systems, breastfeeding experiences, pandemic-related work transitions, and Nova Scotia's persistent poverty challenges. Common themes include public health sociology, economic justice, and policy critique.

Dr. Frank leads the Fed Family Lab, which connects community-university-policy stakeholders to address infant food security. She has conducted longitudinal studies of poverty in Nova Scotia since the 1990s, advocating for evidence-based interventions through annual Report Cards on child and family poverty.
