Leonore Leonardy

Leonore Leonardy serves as Lecturer for special assignments at Academy of Fine Arts Saar (HBKsaar), directing the University Gallery and teaching in the Master's program in Curating/Exhibition Management since May 2022. Previously a lecturer in the same program for many years, she bridges academic training with professional practice through courses like Passageways – young art at Faber (Winter 2025/26) and Exhibition Practice IV.

Her educational foundation spans art history, politics, theater, and communication studies, informing 30+ years as an independent curator and dramaturge for global clients. This dual expertise shapes her focus on conceptual frameworks for accessible contemporary art, evident in recurring course themes like institutional critique (Unwanted monuments*) and spatial dynamics (from to _ Match it).

Research interests prioritize Curating, Exhibition Management, and Contemporary Art through a dramaturgical lens, emphasizing critical engagement with presentation contexts. Her practice integrates cultural management and PR strategies to enable public access to artistic expression, as documented in publications including Passageways #2 and from seven to ten.

Through the University Gallery, she provides students with hands-on experience in exhibition production, professional networking (e.g., Berlin excursions), and critical discourse development. Current teaching for Winter 2025/26 demonstrates her commitment to emerging artist platforms and evolving curatorial methodologies, maintaining active involvement in shaping the program's direction since at least 2018/19.
