Professor Leonie Callaway is a leading Obstetric Physician at The University of Queensland, affiliated with the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Metro North Hospital and Health Service District. Her research focuses include gestational diabetes, maternal obesity, hypertension in pregnancy, and clinical trials.

Research Interests: She investigates maternal-fetal medicine, pregnancy complications, and translational health. Current projects include federated learning in healthcare governance and weight-inclusive maternity care.
Funding: Over $12 million in research grants, including NHMRC and Medical Research Futures Fund support for clinical trials on antenatal care practices and pregnancy-related metabolic disorders.
Academic Leadership: Previously served as Deputy Dean of the School of Medicine at UQ and Head of the Royal Brisbane Clinical School. Committed to mentoring PhD scholars and improving research higher degree work-life balance.
