معرفی
Dr. Leonid Piliugin is a Research Professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astronomy (ITPA), Vilnius University. His work focuses on the structure and chemical evolution of galaxies, particularly spiral and irregular galaxies, and the analysis of interstellar matter composition. He has received multiple honors from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, including the State Prize in Science and Technology (2014).
Research Interests:
- Chemical composition determination in HII regions and galaxies
- Galactic evolution and abundance gradients
- Interstellar matter dynamics in spiral/irregular galaxies
- Spectroscopic analysis and abundance calibration
- Correlation between galaxy properties and metallicity
- Relations between galactic macroscopic properties and chemical abundances
Scientific Awards:
- State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology (2014)
- Honor of NAS Ukraine 'For Professional Successes' (2008)
- Honor of NAS Ukraine 'For Education of the Next Scientific Generation' (2019)
He has supervised three PhD students at the Main Astronomical Observatory of Ukraine's NAS and contributed to journals like 'Kinematics and Physics of Celestial Bodies' as Editor-in-Chief. His research spans collaborations with Molėtai Astronomical Observatory and projects involving CERN and LitGrid-HPC infrastructure.
