Leonardo Novelli is a Research Fellow at Monash University's Turner Institute for Brain & Mental Health, affiliated with the Department of Psychology. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney (2017-2020), focusing on inferring information network structure from dynamics.
- Expertise: Brain connectivity, computational neuroscience, neuroimaging, and dynamic causal modelling.
- Research interests include psychedelic neuroscience, brain network dynamics, and mathematical modelling of neural systems.
He has received awards including the 2023 Faculty ECR Publication Prize and 2021 Turner Institute ECR Award for Excellence in Honours Supervision. His work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to mental health and well-being.
Recent research focuses on neural mechanisms of psychedelics (e.g., psilocybin, LSD) and brain network connectivity analysis using advanced modelling techniques. He actively organizes workshops and contributes to committees such as the Monash FMNHS ECR Steering Committee and Brain Mapping and Modelling ECR Sub-Committee.
