Leonardo Chelazzi is a Full Professor of Physiology at the University of Verona, affiliated with the Department of Neurosciences, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences. He chairs the PhD program in Neuroscience, Psychological and Psychiatric Sciences, and Movement Sciences, and serves as Director of the Physiology and Psychology Section.
His research focuses on integrative neurophysiology and cognitive neuroscience, particularly the neuro-cognitive mechanisms of visual perception, selective attention, learning, and memory. He has secured funding for projects such as "Dealing with emotional stimuli: the Brain Balance between selecting and ignoring" and "MAC-Brain: Multi-scale account of Attentional Control in humans and macaques."
As a dedicated educator, he teaches Physiology II and Psychology in Medicine and Surgery programs. He actively contributes to academic governance as a member of committees like the Faculty Board of PhD programs, Council for the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, and editorial boards of journals including PlosOne and Neuroscience.
