Leonard M. Fleck is a University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University’s Department of Philosophy, affiliated with the College of Arts & Letters and the Center for Bioethics and Social Justice. His work focuses on medical ethics, healthcare justice, deliberative democracy, and policy analysis. He has authored over 160 articles and multiple books, including Just Caring: Health Care Rationing and Democratic Deliberation (2009) and Precision Medicine and Distributive Justice (2022). Fleck led NIH-funded projects on community dialogue for genetic ethics and co-edited volumes on bedside rationing. His recent research addresses precision medicine’s ethical challenges, reproductive technologies, and public reason in bioethics.
Relevant honors include the University Distinguished Faculty Award (2003) and Fellowships at the Hastings Center and Brocher Foundation.
