Dr.-Ing. Leo Bockelmann is a researcher at the Institute for European Urbanistics (IfEU), Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Bauhaus-University Weimar. Since February 2020, he has focused on industrial cultural heritage, infrastructure history, and regional development. His work integrates socio-empirical research with heritage concepts to explore cultural landscapes and urban transformations.
Research projects include the BMBF-funded Vogtlandpioniere, analyzing industrial heritage as a foundation for future narratives in structural change. He connects cultural landscape studies with regional development strategies, emphasizing historical consciousness since the 1970s environmental movement.
