Lenny Grant is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing Studies, Rhetoric, and Composition at Syracuse University, affiliated with the Health Humanities [ILM] initiative. His research focuses on the intersection of rhetoric, medicine, and science, particularly exploring how trauma narratives shape psychiatric diagnoses and public health discourse. He holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Writing from Virginia Tech (2017), with earlier degrees from Montclair State University and Drew University.

Research interests include the rhetorical history of psychiatry, science communication, and community-engaged writing. He co-founded the Resilience Writing Project and is a member of the Onondaga Community Trauma Task Force. His recent work examines trauma diagnosis rhetoric and expressive writing’s role in healthcare resilience. He teaches courses in health humanities, technical communication, and rhetoric theory.
Service and collaborations span academic and community organizations, including the Health Humanities Consortium and Syracuse Veterans Writing Group. Current projects include a monograph on trauma diagnosis rhetoric and initiatives to integrate humanities into pre-medical education.
