Dr. Lennard Voogt is a Lecturer at the Knowledge Centre for Healthcare Innovation at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. He also holds a Visiting Professor position at the Faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy at Vrije Universiteit Brussel since 2019. A physiotherapist by training, he has over 25 years of experience in treating complex pain and earned his PhD in 2009 with a thesis on chronic pain patients' experiences.
His research focuses on biopsychosocial mechanisms of complex pain, analgesic effects of physiotherapy, and implementation of innovations in urban healthcare practices. He leads projects such as ACT4FATIGUE (fatigue in youth with chronic conditions), Pain Relieving Effects of Physiotherapy, and the Cultural Pain Diversity (CuPiD) study, which explores socio-cultural factors in musculoskeletal pain.
Recent publications highlight trends in pain neuroscience, sensorimotor disturbances, and eHealth applications for pain monitoring. He has contributed extensively to systematic reviews on pain mechanisms and physiotherapy efficacy, particularly for neck pain, low back pain, and knee osteoarthritis.
Voogt collaborates with institutions like Erasmus Medical Center, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and University of Ghent. His work emphasizes patient-centered care, practice-oriented research, and training future physiotherapists to address complex pain challenges.
