Dr. Lenka Brunclikova is a Teaching Professor at Lancaster University's Work and Technology department, affiliated with the Pentland Centre for Sustainability in Business and the Centre for Consumption Insights. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of West Bohemia (2015), focusing on household waste dynamics through garbology and ethnography.
Research Interests: Her work examines human-waste interactions, informal economic models, climate change adaptation, and migrant labor strategies. Growing up in socialist Czechoslovakia without plastic packaging shaped her focus on sustainability and post-socialist contexts. She contributes to projects like the Plastic Packaging in People's Lives initiative and volunteers with South Lakes Action on Climate Change's Waste into Wellbeing project.
Key Projects: She co-leads the International Communications Platform for Food Plastic Packaging (2024–2025), fostering stakeholder dialogue on sustainability and Extended Producer Responsibility. This builds on prior research in UK and Malaysian household plastic practices.
Professional Roles: Brunclikova transitioned from Research Associate (2022–2024) to her current Teaching Associate position. She has collaborated with institutions like the University of West Bohemia and engaged in interdisciplinary studies on waste governance and socio-cultural practices.
