Recent studies include investigations into sexual forms of corruption, sextortion, and the impact of media sexism on women’s political ambition. Wängnerud has contributed to international collaborations, including chapters in handbooks like Handbook on Gender and Corruption in Democracies.
In addition to her academic contributions, she serves as Prefect of the Department of Political Science. Her research frequently uses experimental methods and vignette studies to analyze societal attitudes toward issues like depression-related sick leave and gender-based policies.
